Eating out
Here are a few of our favourite places to eat.
This part of Devon has some really good places to eat, from village pubs and harbour cafes to proper sit-down restaurants. Hartland, Clovelly and Woolsery all have great options close by, and if you're after a bit more choice, Bideford and Bude are both around 30 minutes away.
Hartland
Hartland Quay
The closest pub to the campsite, perched right on the clifftop with views straight out to the Atlantic. A great spot for a pint or a meal after a day on the coast path.
Shamrock Fish & Chips
Fresh fish and chips in Hartland, exactly what you need after a day on the coast.
Anchor Inn
A proper village pub with rooms, live music and a menu that changes with the seasons. A good all-rounder.
Kings Arms
A Hartland local with a relaxed atmosphere. Check their Facebook for current opening times and what's on.
The Hart Inn
A friendly village pub with a solid menu of home-cooked food, Sunday roasts and local ales on tap.
Pattard Kitchen
A converted milking parlour turned restaurant, using fresh local and seasonal produce. One of the more special options in the area and well worth booking ahead.
Woolsery
The Farmers Arms & Fish and Chip Shop
Part of the Woolsery Collective, a proper destination pub with great food, local produce and a fish and chip shop next door. Well worth the short drive.
Parkham & Abbotsham
The Bell Inn
A 13th century inn nestled in the rural village of Parkham, originally a forge and farm workers cottages. A proper country pub with good food and plenty of character.
The Thatched Inn
A traditional 400 year old pub in the village of Abbotsham, just off the A39. High quality seasonal food using local produce, set in its own walled garden.
Clovelly
The Red Lion Hotel
Right on the harbourside with fresh crab and lobster landed daily in season. A great spot for lunch or dinner with a view.
The New Inn Hotel
A historic inn midway down Clovelly's famous cobbled street, under new ownership in 2026 and a great spot for food and a drink in one of Devon's most iconic villages.
Welcombe
The Old Smithy Inn
A 13th century thatched inn tucked into the Welcombe valley, just a mile from the sea. Good locally sourced food, real ales, a beer garden with sea views and a Sunday roast worth booking ahead for.
Kilkhampton
The New Inn
A proper village pub with a good menu and generous portions, well regarded for its fish and chips. A handy stop on the way to Bude.
Gillett's Chippy
A local fish and chip shop right in the village square. Good for a straightforward takeaway on the way back to site.
Wayside Chinese Takeaway
A well regarded Chinese takeaway on the main road, popular with holidaymakers and locals alike. Cash only, so worth coming prepared.
Bideford & Bude
Both towns are around 30 minutes away and offer plenty of choice for a longer day out, an evening meal or a takeaway on the way back to site.
Worth knowing
