Where we sit on the SWCP

Stoke Barton sits on one of the most dramatic stretches of the South West Coast Path, between Clovelly and Bude, on the Atlantic-facing North Devon coast.

North stage, from Clovelly

~11 miles

The stage from Clovelly is around 11 miles and is strenuous. Start early, the path drops in and out of deep combes and there's little shade. Don't underestimate it.

South stage, to Bude

~15 miles

The stage south to Bude is around 15 miles and highly exposed. Carry plenty of water, there are few places to refill once you leave Hartland. Check the weather before you set off.

"Lots of people stay with us whilst walking the coastal path. If you're arriving via Hartland Quay, we'd suggest eating at the pub there before walking back up to the campsite, the Hartland Quay Hotel serves food until 9pm. This is not London and there are no 24-hour services out here."

— Colin & Helen, Stoke Barton
